We are really new to the AMA Crystal Awards process here at OnCourse Marketing. We submitted projects for the Crystal Awards for the first time in 2010, but we’ve won four awards in two years. Since winning the most recent two, I’ve had a couple of colleagues and competitive agencies ask me to share our “secret.”

Tonight, the Houston Chapter of the American Marketing Association will raise their glasses and honor the best marketing work that Houston produces. It has been a great year for On-Course Marketing (OCM). The agency is a finalist in four AMA Crystal Award categories including B-2-C Marketing Campaign, Small Budget Website, Quantitative Research Project and B-2-C Website.
We believe that being a finalist validates the OCM way of tackling tough assignments for our clients. Nothing is more illustrative of that than the website being honored in the Business-to-Consumer Website category - a dramatic, 120-day implementation of a database-driven, e-commerce website that generated 1 million monthly visitors well ahead of plan.

The answer is yes. We all are. And there's more bad news. If you are the victim of a Facebook imposter, Facebook is unlikely to help you resolve the problem.
OnCourse Marketing is presently assisting a Houston-area client who had delegated the creation of his Facebook page to an employee. The employee became disgruntled and left the business. That former employee remains the owner of the Facebook page, and has posted misleading information about the business for all of their Facebook fans to see.
The business owner has tried reporting the problem to Facebook. He has been told by Facebook support that he should have others "report" the page and perhaps a volume of "reports" from a variety of users will spur action. They were unable to give him a quantity of reports that would actually result in the page being removed, and so far there have been no results.

Over the years OnCourse Marketing has worked with a lot of start-up companies. A few have made it and gone on to be good-sized companies. A few are still hanging around on life support and quite a few are no more.
Recently, we have been approached by a large number of start-ups. I don’t know if this is a good thing or a bad thing. We love working with new ideas and new companies. Our team really enjoys discovery and creating new brands. So, from one point of view, we love start-ups. From another, we are finding that start-ups have changed considerably in the last five years or so.
